Football Club de Nantes (FCN), also known as “The Yellow House” and “The Canaries”, is a French football club playing in Ligue 1. It was founded by Marcel Saupin in Nantes, Pays de la Loire, in 1943.
Resulting from the merger of various Nantes-based clubs that aspired to join the top flight, FCN has won eight Ligue 1 titles and three Coupes de France, giving it one of the best records in French football (third behind Marseille and Saint-Étienne).

FCN is also famous for its training centre, “La Jonelière”, which has produced several French internationals including world champions Didier Deschamps, Marcel Desailly, Christian Karembeu and Mickaël Landreau. This youth system saved it from relegation until 2007, following a record 44 consecutive seasons in the premier division.
Football Club de Nantes is the third most successful in France in terms of number of Ligue 1 titles won (eight), behind AS Saint-Étienne with ten and Olympique de Marseille with nine.
